The Erlebnis-Lern-Truck DISCOVER INDUSTRY, as part of the COACHING4FUTURE national educational program, offers students the opportunity to explore how products are created in the digitalized Industry 4.0. This interactive truck provides a double-decker exhibition where students can engage in hands-on activities related to 3D scanning, Artificial Intelligence, and robotics. Accompanying coaches provide valuable information about educational and career paths in these fields, helping students gain clarity and direction. The support from organizations like the Baden-Württemberg Foundation, SÜDWESTMETALL, and the Federal Employment Agency underscores their commitment to nurturing future talent in the MINT sector.

Inside the mobile interactive truck, students gain practical insights into the diversity of MINT professions. Coaches Maria Karg and Marco Umstätter demonstrate to the students how they can contribute to important future tasks, such as renewable energies, medical technology, or tomorrow’s mobility, through technical training or engineering studies.

During their tour of the truck, students take on the role of entrepreneurs looking to bring their own product to market. Equipped with tablets at five workstations, they learn the necessary steps. First, they use a 3D scanner to create a digital prototype by scanning objects and obtaining CAD data that can be further processed on a computer.

In the next step, students will have the opportunity to examine workpieces and materials using a digital microscope, allowing them to explore the intricate details of different components. Alternatively, they can utilize the 3D printer to create test objects, providing hands-on experience with additive manufacturing technology. Following this, students will be able to control an industrial robot through a coordinate system, gaining insight into robotic automation processes. Lastly, they will immerse themselves in a virtual warehouse, using virtual reality goggles to locate and assemble a motor block, familiarizing themselves with intralogistics operations.

During the exploration tour of the truck, students have the opportunity to try out additional high-tech applications. One such application is the assembly of a computer using an interactive, AI-supported guide and an augmented reality headset. This hands-on experience allows students to gain practical knowledge in the field of technology and also provides information on career opportunities and pathways in technical professions.

The cooperation between the Baden-Württemberg Foundation, SÜDWESTMETALL, and the Federal Employment Agency aims to support the development of skilled workers in the MINT field. The DISCOVER INDUSTRY experiential learning truck provides a unique opportunity to engage students and provide them with practical insights into the world of Industry 4.0. By offering hands-on experiences and guidance from experienced coaches, this initiative encourages young learners to explore MINT careers and make informed decisions about their future paths.
