Error prevention in medical technology: contact reliability and signal integrity are crucial
In the development of medical devices, the criteria of reliable function, safe operation, compatibility and patient protection play a central role. The cable connector with snap-in locking is considered to be particularly durable and safe to use, as it allows over 5,000 mating cycles and has an asymmetrical hexagonal contour in the mating area that prevents mismating by staff or patients. Once the connection is made, it locks automatically with a latching hook that provides immediate audible feedback to the operator. The two-piece design of the ELC is easy to put together but can only be separated again with special tools, which further increases ist safety.
The Easy Locking Connector is IP54-certified and thus optimally protected against the ingress of water and other liquids. Even when disconnected, the flange socket offers reliable protection against splashing water and liquids as well as unintentional electrical contact. Easy cleaning and resistance to disinfectants make the connector an excellent choice in hygienically sensitive environments.
The biocompatibility of the 570 series has been tested according to DIN EN ISO 10993-5 and meets the necessary requirements. Furthermore, with the exception of the contact body, the connectors are DEHP-free, which improves their skin compatibility and facilitates their use in medical applications.
