SECO S.p.A. and Raspberry Pi Holdings plc have announced a strategic commercial agreement aimed at expanding their business opportunities through collaboration in hardware and software development. This partnership combines SECO’s expertise in IoT technologies with Raspberry Pi’s versatile computing solutions, allowing both companies to meet the growing demands of industrial applications through innovative customized products.

SECO and Raspberry Pi collaborate to develop customized HMI solution

SECO is leveraging its expertise in hardware design to develop a 10.1-inch Human-Machine Interface (HMI) solution based on the fifth generation Raspberry Pi Compute Module (CM5). With Raspberry Pi OS support, this solution simplifies integration and allows for customized solutions that cater to the specific needs of industrial customers. By collaborating on hardware development, SECO and Raspberry Pi aim to deliver innovative and tailored products that enhance the industrial user experience.

SECO’s Clea IoT software suite will be integrated into the Raspberry Pi OS, making it available in the RPI product portfolio. This integration leverages the hardware and software offerings of Raspberry Pi to provide a seamless solution for device management, data orchestration, and AI/ML applications, thereby increasing value for industrial users. Additionally, the software stack of SECO will include Raspberry Pi Connect, a secure and user-friendly service that enables remote access to Raspberry Pi devices via a web browser using WebRTC technology.

The integration of Raspberry Pi Connect into the commercial offering of Clea on Raspberry Pi devices allows users to access their device’s desktop from anywhere. This integration simplifies management and interaction in industrial applications, aligning with the strategy of integrating Clea into the Raspberry Pi product portfolio. Additionally, Raspberry Pi commits to including Clea in its repository or a similar technical alternative if SECO develops a Clea package.

This partnership aims to explore opportunities in cutting-edge areas such as image recognition, Edge AI, and the use of future Raspberry Pi microcontrollers to develop innovative solutions. SECO brings its extensive history and expertise in various industries such as energy management, smart buildings, healthcare, coffee and vending machines, and industrial automation, and is excited to collaborate with Raspberry Pi to manifest, share, and work on opportunities in these sectors. Both SECO and Raspberry Pi are committed to jointly advancing growth, efficiency, and innovation in the embedded systems and industrial markets.

The partnership between SECO and Raspberry Pi presents an exciting opportunity for SECO to leverage the widespread hardware technology of Raspberry Pi and combine the strengths of both companies in software development. With their combined expertise, they aim to drive growth and innovation in the industrial IoT sector, creating significant value for their stakeholders. This collaboration will enable the delivery of customized solutions to end customers, empowering them with new powerful applications at affordable prices.
