Veitsbronn is set to become the new hub for Siemens innovations, as around 340 employees of Siemens Large Power Drives will begin manufacturing innovative products for digitalization and automation in three halls at Reitweg starting from October 2024. Large Power Drives is a part of the Motion Control business unit within Siemens Digital Industries.

Siemens Large Power Drives to Establish Manufacturing Halls in Veitsbronn

Siemens Large Power Drives is relocating to Veitsbronn, where they will occupy three manufacturing halls to produce innovative products for digitalization and automation. This move is part of Siemens’ investment strategy, with approximately 500 million euros being allocated to research and production capacities in Erlangen. The new facility, located on Reitweg, will house around 340 employees starting in October 2024.

The relocation of the Large Power Drives business unit from Nuremberg to Veitsbronn is driven by the need to create space for the newly established Innomotics GmbH. As part of Siemens’ long-term strategy, Large Power Drives is planned to find a new home in Erlangen once the new technology campus on Frauenauracherstraße is completed. This move reflects Siemens’ commitment to optimizing its operations and fostering innovation within the region.

The relocation of Siemens Large Power Drives to Veitsbronn brings significant benefits to the community. The renovated halls now provide a modern and sustainable workplace for 340 employees. The manufacturing area is particularly noteworthy, as it produces state-of-the-art converter cabinets for the globally recognized SINAMICS frequency converters. These products play a crucial role in key industries such as process and automotive, contributing to their digitalization and automation efforts.

The factory planning for the new location was optimized using a digital twin, an innovative technology that allows for the improvement of workflows and precise efficiency gains in the virtual space before the physical relocation of the production lines. Lars Hofmann, the plant manager of Siemens Production in Veitsbronn, praised the excellent collaboration with the municipality and highlighted the advantages of the new location for process optimization and efficient production.
