VIVAVIS recently submitted the TR certification application for their FNN-compliant control box to the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). This action was prompted by the release of the Technical Guideline BSI TR-03109-5 in December of last year and the establishment of additional requirements in early January. The control box, developed in collaboration with Theben Smart Energy, will provide essential control functions for the implementation of control according to §14a EnWG.
Certification confirms Steuerbox interoperability and regulatory security for Relaisfunktionen
The certification according to the Technical Guideline confirms the proven interoperability of the control box for operation with an intelligent metering system (iMSys) and the fulfillment of core features of the control box, such as a secure software update. This TR certification provides sufficient regulatory security, especially for the use of a control box with relay functions.
VIVAVIS is planning to certify its product solution through an accelerated security certification process (BSZ) to demonstrate the IT security of the control box with EEBUS functionality. This additional security certificate will further enhance the reliability and safety of the control box, while also emphasizing compliance with stringent IT security standards.
VIVAVIS has chosen the renowned testing laboratory SRC Security Research & Consulting GmbH (SRC) in Bonn to carry out the certification process. SRC is recognized by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) for security evaluations according to the Common Criteria and various technical guidelines. With SRC as their partner, VIVAVIS can be confident that the certification processes will be conducted professionally and thoroughly. SRC’s extensive experience in evaluating products across different application areas further ensures the reliability and credibility of the certification results.
VIVAVIS and Theben Smart Energy are eagerly anticipating the completion of the certification process for their FNN-compliant control box. The successful certification will enable the provision of essential control functions for the implementation of control according to §14a EnWG. This will significantly contribute to the further development and establishment of intelligent metering systems, ultimately supporting the energy transition in Germany.
The TR certification and planned security certification for VIVAVIS’ FNN-compliant control box offer a range of benefits. The certification confirms interoperability and ensures compliance with core features such as secure software updates. The additional security certification will further enhance the IT security of the control box and demonstrate its EEBUS functionalities. Through collaboration with SRC, VIVAVIS can be confident that the certification processes are conducted professionally and thoroughly. The successful certification will enable the provision of urgently needed control functions for the implementation of control according to §14a EnWG, making a significant contribution to the energy transition in Germany.
